  • Based on Levy Increase Secured from 1 July 2007

INTRODUCTION
  • The function of the ELRC is to impartially
    facilitate the promotion of labour peace within
    the public education sector.
  • The ELRC provides an independent forum for the
    resolution of disputes.
  • The ELRC provides a forum for government, as
    employer, and labour to bargain and consult on
    matters of mutual interest.
  • The ELRC also engages in training and development
    and research on various issues in public
    education.

INTRODUCTION
  • The sole source of income is the levy collected
    from the employer and employees (equal amounts on
    both sides).
  • The parties to the ELRC have all agreed, in
    principle to increasing the levy from R1.50 to R5
    on either side.
  • It is anticipated that the levy increase would be
    effected from 1st July 2007.
