2
Editorial Changes
  1. Fix a few cases where hop count was off by 1.
  2. Replace remaining Q-tag references with C-tag.
  3. Add a few frame type definitions (Section 1.2)
and a list of acronyms (new Section 10).
  4. Re-order some sub-sections.
  5. Make figure numbers section relative and add
    table numbers.

3
From Vancouver
  1. Remove Pseudo-node suppression material.
  2. Add ability to configure a port to drop native
frames and not send native frames (i.e., no end
    station support).
  3. Permit Rbridges to implement GVRP/MVRP (see also
    technical changes slide).
  4. Add note that difficulties in determining link
speed when there are intervening boxes is not
    unique to Rbridges.
  5. Drop recommendation to set bridge flags in some
802.1AB fields. (actually from Chicago but
    accidentally omitted in -06)

4
Expansions / Pseudo-Code
  1. Add Section 4.8 giving a more detailed exposition
    of multipathing.
  2. Add Section 2.5 comparing zero configuration
    802.1D, 802.1Q, and Rbridges.
  3. Added note to Security Considerations to use care
    when using VLANs for security.
  4. Pseudo-Code (Section 5) has been partially
    updated.

5
Technical Changes
  1. IEEE 802.1 VLAN registration protocols (either
the older GVRP or newer MVRP) didnt work. Added
Section 4.7 which goes about 75 of the way to
making MVRP (Multiple VLAN Registration Protocol,
802.1ak) work so that Rbridges can incrementally
replace 802.1Q customer bridges where either the
replaced or remaining bridges have ports with
    dynamically registered VLANs.
  2. Options see next slide.

6
Options
  • For discussion purposes and to provide some
    examples
  • The protocol-07 draft specifies only summary
    hop-by-hop and ingress-to-egress critical options
    present bits.
  • Individual draft -rbridge-options-00 specifies
  • A fairly complete options syntax and
  • A number of specific options.
