• This funeral was different from other funerals
  because people usually would bring food. There
  was no food at this funeral. Another thing is
  that usually at funerals, people will talk about
  the great times they had spent with Great-Aunt
  Birte, but everyone was silent.

face. Why might not knowing everything make it
easier to be brave? Why does Mama lie to

It might be easier to be brave if you dont
know everything because you wont know what
danger you were in or the tasks you were
doing. Mama lied because she didnt want
Annemarie to feel as if she were in danger, or to
ask too many questions.

  Ellen reacts to the surprise by crying but not a
