15Older Workers
- Career Centers work with older workers by
providing direct employment services and
referring them for employment and training
services to the Senior Community Service
Employment Program. - This program serves to train and employ persons
with low incomes that are 55 years old or over in
jobs and then assist them in finding job

16Veterans
- Veterans are another source of qualified
workforce power - Many have been through rigorous military training
everything from computers to cooking skills. - Access to this wide array of skilled workers can
be found through the local One-Stop Career

low-income workers including veterans - The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a
federal income tax credit that encourages you to

- The cost for those who do is minimal (1,000 or
less) - The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP)

22Ex-Offenders
- Released back into their communities and are
seeking jobs and the stability that job brings. - The Federal Bonding Program (FBP) has, over the
last 30 years, enabled thousands of ex-offenders
to successfully transition back into the world of
work. - FBP is a business insurance policy that protects
the employer in case of any loss of money or
property for which the employee is responsible. - About 40,000 applicants have obtained jobs due to
being bonded and 99 have proven to be productive
employees.

Development (WIRED) initiative presents a unique
opportunity for states to compete for grant
funding to develop and implement a
transformational approach to regional economic
development.

- WIRED provides funding, technical assistance and
access to a cadre of experts to participating
regions to help them move to the next level of
system innovation and transformation.

- Flexibility to design a system capable of fueling
regional economic competitiveness. - Recognition that economic regions do not
typically correspond to state, county, local
workforce area, or municipal boundaries.
