Title: 2nd Week of Advent
12nd Week of Advent
2We continue this week in preparation for meeting
Christ at Christmas
In quiet and peace
And take time to stop the noise and busyness
to come into Gods presence just as He came into
ours
3One of the most interesting characters in the
Nativity story makes a brief but powerful role
4Who was Gabriel?
What was his job?
5in the Greek language the word angelos means a
messenger
6Angels are Gods Messengers
Sent at special moments to deliver important news
7Gabriels role was to deliver THE most important
news
8His arrival must have been impressive
9He tells Mary not to be afraid
months earlier he also came with a message to
Marys cousin Elizabeth
She also was to give birth to a son - John the
Baptist
Gabriel also tells her not to be afraid
10Gabriel and the other angels reveal Gods message
at crunch moments in human history
11and are one of the ways that God communicates
with His people
12Today people are still aware of Gods messages in
their lives
13They may not have the same experience as Mary and
Elizabeth
but God still uses messengers to tell them about
His love for them
and their plan in creation
14Today as we remember Gabriels message
and prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus
let us take this time to think about the messages
we deliver
with our words and actions
15Let us pray
Lord you sent Gabriel to tell the Good News to
Mary
help us today to also be bringers of Good News to
those around us
and help them see Gods plan for them
Amen
16One Message
One Answer
One Word
that would change the world
Forever
17Today
Can we be like Gabriel
Can we deliver Gods message
by our words and actions
so that our world is changed
Forever
18We light the Second candle of Advent the candle
of peace
