Introduction How are you paying for College?

• AVID aims to help students gain admittance to 4
  year universities by pushing students to take
  advanced classes. Part of the membership to AVID
  is help in choosing a college, filling out
  college applications and targeting funds to help
  pay for college. Scholarships should not be
  sought only in the last two years of high school
  but starting in middle school. Often times
  receiving a scholarship in middle school helps
  keep students focused on their future.
• This projects objective is to help students
  practice researching scholarships they are
  eligible for. Scholarships are funds provided by
  colleges, people are organizations to help pay
  tuition and are not expected to be repaid.

The Task at Hand

• Students will be able to apply research skills to
  investigate possible scholarships and define the
  eligibility requirements and detail the
  application process.
• Students will be able to create a powerpoint
  presentation regarding their selected scholarship
  and give an oral presentation to their peers
  about their scholarship of choice.
• Students will present their findings to their
  peers to help build each students scholarship
  research portfolio.

Process

• Storyboard prior to starting your powerpoint.
• Minimum of 10 slides
• Must have a title slide
• Must have a works cited slide
• Must have an assessment to check for
  understanding during your presentation

• Powerpoint
• No more than 3 bullets per slide.
• At least 2 graphics- 1 must be the logo for the
  scholarships namesake, organization
• Oral Presentation-
• Check for understanding
• Quiz created and given
• Everyone must speak
• DO NOT read off slides- use note cards.

Summary

• I hope this project has helped you realize that
  college is not out of reach. Now that you have
  some of research done ahead of your peers, please
  do not lose all your hard work. Create a folder
  at home or keep it in school or ask to put it in
  your cum folder or have it sent to your guidance
  counselor in high school so you can keep adding
  new scholarship opportunities.
