industrial settings of Tampella and Finlayson
truly make the city of Tampere a unique
attraction in the world the rapids being an
impressive phenomenon of nature and old
red-bricked factory buildings delivering a
culture historical message from the past
centuries, from dawn of industrialism. Finnish
insurance company Varma plans to destroy the
picturesque neighbourhood, however the old
Finlayson dyehouse Värjäämö, dating from 1850s
will be torn down and replaced by a modern
six-storey block right next to Tammerkoski
rapids and right between the Finlayson Palace and
rest of the historical milieu. Please help save
