Thankfulness is a Command

• Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
  since as members of one body you were called to
  peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ
  dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one
  another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms,
  hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your
  hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in
  word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord
  Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through
  him. Colossians 315-17

Thankful for His Goodness and Mercy

• 2 Chronicles 513 The trumpeters and singers
  joined in unison, as with one voice, to give
  praise and thanks to the LORD . Accompanied by
  trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, they
  raised their voices in praise to the LORD and
  sang "He is good his love endures forever.
  Then the temple of the LORD was
  filled with a cloud

  give thanks to God always for you, brethren

  beginning chose you for salvation through
  sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the
  truth
