Enrollment Background

• Fall of 2002 Enrollments from Banner to
  Blackboard automated.
• Exceptions made for non-CRN based courses. Most
  exceptions are controlled by an instructor or
  administrator. A few courses still allow
  self-enrollment.

Guiding Principles

• An accurate reflection of Banner enrollment with
  some flexibility for exceptions
• As up-to-date as possible
• No loss of student files

Enrollment Definitions

• Status Available
• Access to the site
• Listed in roster
• Listed in gradebook
• Status Unavailable
• No access to the site
• Not listed in roster
• Still listed in faculty gradebook
• Files remain on system (if submitted while
  available)

Removing vs. Making Unavailable

• Removing an individual from a course causes the
  irreversible action of removing files added by
  that individual.
• Setting the status of an individual to
  Unavailable is fully reversible.

Enrollments 2002-2006

• New enrollments added several times each day
• Following the drop/add period, all students
  made unavailable immediately followed by making
  all new enrollments available
• No students ever removed by automation

Proposed Changes

• New enrollments updated 3 times each day.
• Students dropped or otherwise unenrolled set to
  unavailable 3 times each day.
• Prior to the first day of classes, all unenrolled
  automatically removed.
• Following drop/add all unenrolled students
  automatically removed.
