What is a festival?
  • A celebration of a religious event.
  • A time to remember a religious occasion and to
    get together as a community or family.

Why do people have festivals?
  • To celebrate the start of a new year.
  • To celebrate the birth of a religious leader.
  • To celebrate an important event in the history of
    the religion.
  • A harvest festival of thanksgiving
  • To end a fast.

PESACH
  • Pesach or Passover remembers the time when the
    Jews escaped from slavery in Egypt in the time of
    Moses.
  • The Jews passed over the Red Sea.
  • The Angel of Death passed over the homes of the
    Jews during the tenth plague

How do Jews prepare for Passover?
  • They clean the house of chametz (leaven)
  • They spring clean the house
  • The kitchen appliances are all cleaned
  • They sell any chametz products to non-Jews
  • They get out special crockery and cutlery
  • They buy chametz free food
  • Children play a game search for chametz to find
    ten pieces of bread with a candle and feather.
