Yet through all this David is held up as a man of
faith, "a man after God's own heart" according to
Acts 1322

Why were sacrifices important?

• Sacrifices didnt provide God with something He
  needed, but provided something the people making
  the sacrifices needed
• Devotion to God
• Dependence on His provision
• Gratitude for His goodness

What about sacrifices in New Testament times?

• In view of Gods mercy, offer your bodies as
  living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to Godthis
  is your spiritual act of worship (Romans 121)
• Everyone who has left houses or brothers or
  sisters or father or mother or children or fields
  for my sake will receive a hundred times as much
  and will inherit eternal life (Matthew 1929)

• The amount of money wasnt the issue
• God didnt need David to buy the field in order
  for God to have title over it
• A sacrifice is not really a sacrifice unless it
  costs the giver something

God wants to give back to us what we give to Him
"He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep,
in order to gain what he cannot lose"

Godly sacrifice doesn't result in losing
something, but in gaining something!

• Only by giving back to God what He entrusts to us
  will we be using it as He means for us to use it
