Title: ALL OF THE BELIEVERS TOGETHER
1ALL OF THE BELIEVERS TOGETHER
- Acts 244 All the believers were together, and
they shared everything with one another. (ISV)
EVERYTHING IS AFTER WHAT WAS BEFORE
2AFTER PENITENT FAITH--BAPTISM
- Acts 237-44 Now when they heard this, they were
pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and
to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren,
what shall we do? (38) Then Peter said unto
them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in
the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of
sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy
Ghost. (39) For the promise is unto you, and to
your children, and to all that are afar off, even
as many as the Lord our God shall call. (40)
And with many other words did he testify and
exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this
untoward generation. (41) Then they that gladly
received his word were baptized and the same day
there were added unto them about three thousand
souls. (42) And they continued stedfastly in
the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in
breaking of bread, and in prayers. (43) And
fear came upon every soul and many wonders and
signs were done by the apostles. (44) And all
that believed were together, and had all things
common

4THE CHURCH IN ACTS
- Acts 511 And great fear came upon all the
church, and upon as many as heard these things. - Acts 81 And Saul was consenting unto his death.
And at that time there was a great persecution
against the church which was at Jerusalem and
they were all scattered abroad throughout the
regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the
apostles. - Acts 1126 And when he had found him, he brought
him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a
whole year they assembled themselves with the
church, and taught much people. And the disciples
were called Christians first in Antioch. - Acts 1423 And when they had ordained them
elders in every church, and had prayed with
fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom
they believed.

7THE CHURCH IN PROMISE
- Matthew 1618-19 And I say also unto thee, That
thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build
my church and the gates of hell shall not
prevail against it. (19) And I will give unto
thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven and
whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be
bound in heaven and whatsoever thou shalt loose
on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
8Setting Churches in Order
- 1Ti 314-15 KJV These things write I unto thee,
hoping to come unto thee shortly (15) But if I
tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou
oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God,
which is the church of the living God, the pillar
and ground of the truth. - Tit 11-5 KJV Paul, a servant of God, and an
apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith
of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the
truth which is after godliness (2) In hope of
eternal life, which God, that cannot lie,
promised before the world began (3) But hath
in due times manifested his word through
preaching, which is committed unto me according
to the commandment of God our Saviour (4) To
Titus, mine own son after the common faith
Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour. (5) For this
cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest
set in order the things that are wanting, and
ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed
thee

- One indelible impression I take away from this
conference is that the restoration ideal has been
a powerful motif. In fact, it may be the most
vital single assumption underlying the
development of American Protestantism. Equally
important, the restoration ideal continues as one
of the most compelling ideas in modern
Christianity. 239.

15Singing
- Hebrews 212 KJV Saying, I will declare thy name
unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will
I sing praise unto thee. - 1 Corinthians 1415 KJV (15) What is it then? I
will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with
the understanding also I will sing with the
spirit, and I will sing with the understanding
also.
16SINGING IN THE LOCAL CHURCH
- IS INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC REALLY SUCH A BIG ISSUE?
- Should we divide churches just because of
instrumental music?
IT SEEMS PRETTY MINOR ME!!

Religion today in the USA is a salad bar where
people heap on upbeat beliefs they like and often
leave the veggieslike strict doctrinebehind.
18Instrumental Music
- THE VOICE OF VARIOUS RELIGIOUS SOURCES...
- 1. CATHOLIC - "... the first Christians were of
too spiritual a fibre to substitute lifeless
instruments for or to use them to accompany the
human voice." -- CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA - 2. GREEK ORTHODOX - "The execution of Byzantine
church music by instruments, or even the
accompaniment of sacred chanting by instruments
was ruled out by the Eastern Fathers as being
incompatible with the pure, solemn, spiritual
character of the religion of Christ." --
Constantine Cavarnos, BYSANTINE SACRED MUSIC - 3. PRESBYTERIAN - "Musical instruments in
celebrating the praises of God would be no more
suitable than the burning of incense, the
lighting up of lamps, the restoration of the
other shadows of the law. The Papists, therefore,
have foolishly borrowed this, as well as many
other things, from the Jews. Men who are fond of
outward pomp may delight in that noise but the
simplicity which God recommends to us by the
apostle is far more pleasing to Him." - JOHN
CALVIN, Commentary on the Book of Psalms, Vol. I,
p. 539 - 4. METHODIST - "I have no objection to
instruments of music, in our chapels, provided
they are neither heard nor seen." - JOHN WESLEY
(founder) - 5. METHODIST - "Music as a science, I esteem and
admire but instruments of music in the house of
God I abominate and abhor. This is the abuse of
music and here I register my protest against all
such corruptions in the worship of the Author of
Christianity." - ADAM CLARKE (commentator) - 6. LUTHERAN - "Martin Luther called the organ an
'ensign of Baal'." - MCCLINTOCK STRONG'S
ENCYCLOPEDIA - 7. BAPTIST - "I would as soon attempt to pray to
God with machinery as to sing to Him with
machinery." - CHARLES H. SPURGEON

25First Day of the Week in History--Togetherness
- Christians had their regular meeting,
particularly to partake of the eucharist, on the
first day of the week. . . . Acts 207-11
describes a meeting on the evening of the first
day of the week. . . . Thereafter, Christian
sources give uniform testimony to meeting on
Sunday. . . . Encyclopedia of Early
Christianity, p. 874.
26First Day of the Week Assembly
- But Sunday is the day on which we all hold our
common assembly, because it is the first day on
which God, having wrought a change in the
darkness and matter, made the world and Jesus
Christ our Saviour on the same day rose from the
dead. For He was crucified on the day before that
of Saturn (Saturday) and on the day after that
of Saturn, which is the day of the Sun, having
appeared to His apostles and disciples, He taught
them these things, which we have submitted to you
also for your consideration. Justin, First
Apology, AD 150
JOIN WITH CHRISTIANS THROUGH THE AGES WHO HAVE
ASSEMBLED ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEKAS JESUS
INSTRUCTED THE APOSTLES
27THE FACT CHRISTIANS ASSEMBLED TOGETHER
- Act 207 And upon the first day of the week,
when the disciples came together to break bread,
Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the
morrow and continued his speech until midnight.
28THE FACT ALL THE BELIEVERS WERE TOGETHER
- Acts 244 All the believers were together, and
they shared everything with one another. (ISV)
29REASONS FOR TOGETHERNESS GREETING LOVED ONES
- Titus 315 All that are with me salute thee.
Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be
with you all. Amen.
30REASONS FOR TOGETHERNESS SHARING AND INCREASING
OUR FAITH
- Romans 111-12 For I long to see you, that I may
impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end
ye may be established (12) that is, that I
with you may be comforted in you, each of us by
the other's faith, both yours and mine.
31REASONS FOR TOGETHERNESS BECAUSE I NEED YOU
- Ephesians 411-16 And he gave some to be
apostles and some, prophets and some,
evangelists and some, pastors and teachers
(12) for the perfecting of the saints, unto the
work of ministering, unto the building up of the
body of Christ (13) till we all attain unto
the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of
the Son of God, unto a fullgrown man, unto the
measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ
(14) that we may be no longer children, tossed
to and fro and carried about with every wind of
doctrine, by the sleight of men, in craftiness,
after the wiles of error (15) but speaking
truth in love, we may grow up in all things into
him, who is the head, even Christ (16) from
whom all the body fitly framed and knit together
through that which every joint supplieth,
according to the working in due measure of each
several part, maketh the increase of the body
unto the building up of itself in love.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE BY YOURSELF
32REASONS FOR TOGETHERNESS A HOUSEHOLD OF FAITH
- Galatians 610 So then, as we have opportunity,
let us work that which is good toward all men,
and especially toward them that are of the
household of the faith.
33OUR VISION BUILDING THE CATHEDRAL
- Ephesians 219-22 So then ye are no more
strangers and sojourners, but ye are
fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the
household of God, (20) being built upon the
foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ
Jesus himself being the chief corner stone (21)
in whom each several building, fitly framed
together, groweth into a holy temple in the Lord
(22) in whom ye also are builded together for a
habitation of God in the Spirit.
