How do I research on my own?
  • Visit local public library.
  • Go to the Cedarbrook library during lunch and/or
    activity period.
  • Search online at home (Use databases discussed in
    class.)
  • Talk to one of your teachers if you need help.

What do I do if I want to work ahead?
  • Go to the 8th Grade Research Webpage
  • Download any necessary forms.
  • Check with your teachers if you have questions.

How long should my essay be?
  • Your essay must be 3-6 pages or 7-10 for A With
    Distinction.
  • You should include the following an introduction
    paragraph, body paragraphs to answer questions,
    and a conclusion paragraph.

How do I save my work?
  • It is strongly recommended that all students use
    GoogleDocs and NoodleTools to save your work.
  • Students will create accounts for GoogleDocs and
    NoodleTools in school.
  • It is also a good idea to e-mail yourself with an
    attachment or copy and paste saved work in the
    body of an e-mail.

A With Distinction
  • Students who demonstrate exemplary work on the
    research paper and who meet specific criteria
    established by the eighth grade teachers will
    achieve the status of an A With Distinction.
    For criteria, see page of 20 of the manual.
  • Cedarbrook faculty and administrators will
    acknowledge students who attain this level of
    work during eighth grade graduation ceremonies.

What happens if I turn in assignments late?
  • The only assignment that will receive credit late
    is the final draft.
  • You will lose 10 (5 points) for each day that
    the final draft is late.

When are assignments due?
  • As indicated on page 2 of the timeline, all
    assignments are due in the specified class at the
    beginning of that class.
  • All work must be printed and ready to be
    submitted or shared through NoodleTools at the
    beginning of the class when it is due!!!
    Assignments that are not printed in advance will
    be considered late.
