UN Task Force on Financial Mechanisms for ICTD

    Secretary-General to review existing financing
    mechanisms and consider innovative financing
    approaches to applying ICT4D.

GKP Position on Financial Mechanisms for ICTD
Priorities for ICTD We believe that a critical
priority and opportunity in financing ICTD is in
the area of poverty eradication, particularly in
ways that reach youth and women. Public
Private Partnership We strongly urge that this
section should include a discussion of
multisector or Multi-stakeholder partnerships,
and specifically suggest a role for NGOs as well
as governments and private sector in such
partnerships. Role of Multilaterals and the
Private Sector With regard to the private sector,
it is important to differentiate
commercial/business investments and social
entrepreneurs, philanthropic investments or
donations

    the groundwork on Internet Governance issues, for
    a decision at WSIS Tunis.

Yeomans Award for Local Content 2nd Call for
Africa-based projects
  • GKP, the Open Knowledge Network (OKN) and
    OneWorld Africa invite Africa-based projects to
    submit applications for the Yeomans Award for
    Local Content.
  • This is a re-advertisement for applicants for the
    African category of the Award.
  • Projects from Africa which applied for the first
    round but were not short-listed should not
    re-apply.
  • One award of USD2,500 will be given out to the
    winning application.
  • Applications to the Award can be made online at

  • Deadline for submission - 15 February 2005.
