How should you PREPARE?

• Know your goals as well as the instructors goals
• Complete assignments before coming to class
• Review notes from previous lecture
• Be prepared to listen

How will you get ORGANIZED?

• Pens, PENCILS, textbook
• Paper (Binders are great!)
• Hint Use only one side for writing

Will I really need to WORK?

• Listen for KEY ideas
• Think more than write
• Use short phrases, abbreviations, outline form
• Copy info written on the board or on an overhead
• Use different techniques for different class
  formats

How can I EVALUATE and RETHINK my notes?

• Before class ends, review your notes
• Ask for clarification in class or after class
• Spend 5-10 minutes reviewing your notes
