Update
  • The terms EM1 / EM2 will no longer be used.
    Students in EM1 / EM2 are now considered to be in
    Merged Stream.
  • The course for EM1 is now known as 5S (English,
    Math, Science, MT and HMT).
  • The course for EM2 is now known as 4S (English,
    Math, Science and MT).
  • The Foundation course for EM3 still exists.

Recommendation for students taking Foundation

  • Criteria - Band 4 in all subjects
  • The school is open to students taking foundation
    course at Primary 5 with the following
    combinations
  • FEL, Foundation Math and MT (Standard course)
  • FEL, Basic MT and Math (Standard course)
  • Basic MT , Foundation Math and EL (Standard
    course)

  • At the end of P5
  • Students must obtain at least a Band 2 for MT to
    remain in the 5S course at Primary 6.
  • Students need to pass at least 1 subject with a
    Band 3 to remain in 4S in Primary 6

Weightage for Primary 4 Examination
  • Semester 1 one standard test (5) and SA1 (25)
  • Semester 2 one standard test (5) and SA2 (65)
  • Total 100

Parental Option
  • The school will recommend the course for students
    to study at Primary 5, based on the Primary 4
    End-of-Year Examination results.
  • Parents will indicate their choice for the type
    of course shortly after the release of the
    Primary 4 End-of-Year Examination results (in
    Middle of November).
  • Arrangements will be made for the parents to meet
    the teachers when they are in the process of
    making the choices.

How are students placed into the different
classes at Primary 5?
  • Three classes for students taking 5S. They are
    ranked according to their ability in EL, Math,
    Science and MT.
  • Two classes for students taking 4S (very strong
    in EL, Math and Science). They are ranked
    according to their ability in EL, Math and
    Science.
  • Two classes for students taking 4S (not strong in
    EL, Math and Science). Each class size will be
    about 25 only.
  • The remaining classes comprise of students with
    mixed ability.

PSLE
  • Equal weightage is given to each of the four
    subjects EL, MT, Math and Science in the
    computation of the PSLE aggregate.
  • Students have to do well for the four subjects in
    order to obtain a better PSLE aggregate.
  • The school is striving to introduce new
    approaches in the teaching and learning of MT.
