• Thousands of fan across Australia and around the
  world made pilgrimage to his zoo in Australia to
  pay their respects to the Crocodile Hunter
• Even the United States mourned the death of this
  international star
• The US Embassy issued a statement saying that
  Irwin represented all those things that
  Americans find so appealing about Australia.
• Mr. McCullum, the US ambassador to Australia says
  in many ways Irwin was Australias unofficial
  ambassador to the United States, and he will be
  enormously missed
• These quotes and the remorse felt around the
  world demonstrate that Irwin had more than just a
  social impact.
• Politically and scientifically, Australia lost a
  pawn in the game it is trying to win regarding
  global warming and conservation.

STEVES DEATH

• During time of death, Irwin was filming a
  documentary for the Discovery Channel called
  Oceans Deadliest which is watched by more than
  200 million people around the world.
• Even in death, Irwins passion for wildlife
  conservation was able to rally people to make
  donations to his environmental charity, Wildlife
  Warriors Worldwide. They have been overwhelmed
  by donations from around the world, said
  executive director, Michael Hornby.
• The shrine and outpouring of popular grief is
  being compared by Australian media to the floral
  mountain created in London after the 1997 death
  of Princess Diana.
