cultural celebrations in Texas, the United
States, and other nations.

  • This means Happy New Year in Chinese. All
    over China, people greet one another with these
    happy words.

Chinese New Year Traditions
  • Chinese New Year is full of traditions. Some of
    these include housecleaning which symbolizes
    out with the old, in with the new, arrangements
    of spring flowers are brought in to the home, and
    people pray to their ancestors.

On New Years Day
  • On this day, visiting of family members
    begins. Guests usually bring gifts that consist
    of fruits and cakes.
  • The guests are greeted with a tray of
    sweetmeats called Chuen-Hop, this means tray of
    togetherness.

Chinese New Year Parade
The biggest part of the Chinese New Year is the
dragon parade. Lanterns light up the sky and
fireworks are displayed. A marching band plays
before the grand entrance of the dragon. Here he
