Facility Development Assistance Grants
Major Category

• to assist communities in the construction,
  renovation, or acquisition of facilities for
  public recreation purposes.
• provides funding of up to 5,000.00 for larger
  projects that exceed a value of 10,000.00.
• groups must own or have a long-term (10 year)
  lease on the property, and no more than two
  grants in this category can be given yearly.
• groups receiving this funding are not eligible
  for any other type of facility grant for two (2)
  years.

Facility Development Assistance Grants (cont.)
Regular Category

• same purpose and criteria as major category
• provides funding of up to 1,500.00 or a maximum
  of 50 of the projects costs.

Planning Assistance

• to assist groups in the costs of preparation of
  professional plans for facilities, such as an
  audit.
• provides 25 funding
• 2,500.00 budgeted this year.

Community Recreation Assistance Grant

• provision of financial assistance to
  organizations at a community or regional level
  that introduce a new leisure activity, program,
  or organization which demonstrates the ability to
  satisfy a local or community recreational need.
• provides a maximum of 500.00 for two years only
  for the same program
• proper recognition must be afforded the Region.
• a detailed budget must be submitted and as well
  as a final financial statement

Tournament/Special Event Assistance Grant

• to enable groups to host provincial or higher
  caliber sport tournaments and/or special events.
  
• provides funding up to 500.00.

Sport Team Travel Grant

• to assist athletes based in the Region that have
  won provincial championships, or been named to
  provincial teams, to travel to higher levels of
  competition.
• teams must be recognized and sanctioned by the
  appropriate Sport Governing Body provincially
• the amount awarded is dependent on the place of
  travel

Volunteer Training Assistance Grants

• to assist community groups and/or individuals in
  providing or attending volunteer training
  opportunities.
• assists with registration costs for two group
  members up to a maximum of 100.00, 30.00 for
  accommodations per day, to a maximum of two days,
  and a meal per diem of 25.00 per day.
• a group hosting training locally may is eligible
  for up
• 300.00 in leadership/administrative costs.

Community Beautification Fund

• to assist community groups in beautifying
  community/public areas
• provides up to 500.00 for this purpose

Summary of Services to Groups

• - photocopying of 1000 free copies per
  group per year. Additional copies, up to a
  maximum of 2500, are provided at 5 cents per.
• - typing of letters and minutes
• - preparation of posters and tickets
• - newsletter, brochure and pamphlet design
• - our equipment loan program includes outdoor
  banners, a 20 x 20 tent, a stage,
  and basketball standards.
• - conduct an annual community development
  workshop
• - one volunteer training opportunity during
  Volunteer Week (April)
• - support regional community development
  activities
