Purpose

• Help overcome major barriers to returning
  scientists to low- and middle-income (developing)
  countries
• Continue the investment already made
• Increase the pool of foreign researchers
• Work on problems of local concern
• Improve the infrastructure of research in the
  foreign site
• Increase benefit for the research dollar

Financial commitment

• Up to 50,000 per year for 3 5 years
• Approximately 10 per year

Institutional Eligibility

• Public or private
• Must be foreign institutions from developing
  countries

Individual Eligibility

• At least two years of training at an NIH campus
• Trained under Fogarty D43 training grants or in
  the intramural program at NIH
• INVEST or Humphrey Fellows from NIDA Human
  Frontier Science Program
• ----------
• From developing countries and returning to
  developing countries
• Soon to complete or recently completed (within 4
  years) or training
• Work done relating to scientific needs of the
  country or region
