Project Stiletto Message

• SOUTHCOM is committed to developing innovative
  and agile approaches to regional challenges such
  as illicit trafficking.
• Project Stiletto has the potential to
  significantly improve our Counter Drug operations
  by offering affordable cutting edge technology,
  unmatched performance and mission flexibility
  combined with the cooperation of a joint,
  interagency and partner-nation crew.

Stiletto Attributes

• Partnering Stiletto will be manned by an Army
  mariner crew, a U.S. Coast Guard law enforcement
  detachment, a Navy technical representative,
  partner nation riders and other Inter Agency
  representatives.
• Speed Stiletto is capable of 40-50 kt speed,
  allowing the ship to outrun most of the vessels
  typically used to support illicit trafficking in
  the SOUTHCOM area of focus.
• Access Stilettos shallow 2.5 foot draft
  allows the ship to gain access to near shore and
  riverine type areas, which are often used by
  illicit traffickers as a sanctuary.
• Flexibility Stiletto provides a plug and
  play architecture and electronic keel suited
  toward rapid installation and evaluation of new
  concepts and technologies used to stop illicit
  trafficking. One example is a modern mast
  mounted FLIR on project Stiletto.
• Affordability Stiletto was built for
  approximately 6M and fully outfitted for 4M.
  Availability of modern, high performance ships
  provides the promise of expanding U.S and partner
  nation assets and coverage used to counter
  illicit trafficking.
