while the girls live in peace and harmony? Not

Females, like males, also resort to physical
confrontation in multiple situations, most
commonly for reproductive survival.

Why do chicks fight?

1. Desperation Desperate females due to shortage of
   males.
2. Aspiration Females desire the best-fit males.
3. Possessiveness Female spouses keep their
   males in-check. No pimping allowed!
4. Competition Females fight over materials and
   resources.

Desperation

• Acraea encedon, an African butterfly only 1 out
  of 10 individuals is a male due to Wolbachia
  disease. So desperate girls chase any boy in
  sight.

• Newts male newts have a limited number of sperm.
  As males lay down the sperm on the ground,
  females steal the sperm from each other.

• Moorhens females want the fatter males to keep
  their eggs warmer for a longer period of time.

• Burying Beetle male does handstand to attract
  other females with chemical secretion from
  abdomen, female knocks him over.

• House Sparrows Females will smash other females
  eggs to prevent them from hatching because the
  male will protect the female whose eggs hatch
  first.

  rival females if they suspect them of trying to
  steal their man.

• Queen ants build colony together, once
  established they destroy one another for control
  of the colony. No males are involved here

• Australian thrips species of black insects
  Females kill each while competing over a
  potential home.

Conclusion

• Desperation, aspiration, possessiveness, and
  competition all drive females to use physical
  confrontation in order to maximize chances of
  survival and reproductive success.
• Plainly put, girls do fight just as much as boys
