Government Policy

• Ghana has a sector-wide policy approach to
  agriculture
• The policy is however private sector driven
• Resource allocation is therefore in areas where
  there are more players
• Hence more resources is spent in conventional
  farming

  cases
• Based on targeting markets e.g. hospitality,
  restaurants and middle class communities
• Based on the concept of sales maximisation

be independent

Integrated Tamale Fruit Company (ITFC)

• Has a nucleus farm of about 155 Ha of mango farm.
• Has developed 1,400 Ha outgrowers scheme
  involving 1,400 small holder farmers
• The smallholders are given interest free loan to
  manage their farms
