9Rationale For Redesigning Our High Schools
- Delivery of instruction and curriculum lack the
relevance needed for todays students. - School structures are outdated and function under
the factory model developed in the 1950s. - Accountability needs to reach every student in
every classroom of every content in every school.
10What are Signature Programs?
- Programs that are theme specific to a school.
Signature programs are available only to students
enrolled at that school. Within a high schools
signature program, there could be one or more
separately defined themed academies within the
larger school setting.
11Why Implement Signature Programs?
- To build more authentic, caring, and respectful
relationships between teachers and students. - To provide students with options and choices
related to a potential career pathway. - To provide students an environment where they
will be known well by an adult and engaged in
meaningful work. - To provide teachers the opportunity to
collaborate and focus on actively engaged student
learning. - To improve academic performance for all students.
