4Words of Suffering
- (John 1928-29) After this, Jesus knowing that
all things were now accomplished, that the
scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar and
they filled a sponge with vinegar, and put it
upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. - (Ps 2215) My strength is dried up like a
potsherd and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws and
thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

- As a child, He increased in wisdom and stature
- Asked questions as a young child
- Became weary, hungry, slept, wept, prayed,
rejoiced, groaned, marveled - THIRST!

satisfaction - He wants you to spiritually thirst and be
satisfied - (John 737) In the last day, that great day of
the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any
man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. - (Matt 56) Blessed are they which do hunger and
thirst after righteousness for they shall be

- (John 1930) When Jesus therefore had received
the vinegar, he said, It is finished and he
bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. - It is Finished Gk tetelestai To end, ie.
complete, execute, conclude, discharge (a debt) - When a merchant was paid by a customer, he would
use the word, tetelestai! which meant, Debt
Paid in Full! - With one word Jesus sums up the whole of Gods
plan of salvation for me and you!

- Jesus finished the work given him
- (John 434) My meat is to do the will of him
that sent me, and to finish his work. - His purpose was sumarized at his birth
- (Matt 121) And she shall bring forth a son, and
thou shalt call his name JESUS for he shall save
his people from their sins. - On the cross, Jesus became sin for us!
- (2 Cor 521) For he hath made him to be sin for
us, who knew no sin that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.

- (Heb 214-15) Forasmuch then as the children are

death, that is, the devil And deliver them who

have the keys of hell and of death.

- (1 Cor 1554-57) So when this corruptible shall

pass the saying that is written, Death is
swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy

of death is sin and the strength of sin is the

- (Luke 2346) And when Jesus had cried with a
loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I
commend my spirit and having said thus, he gave
up the ghost. - (John 1930) When Jesus therefore had received
the vinegar, he said, It is finished and he

- Bowed head shows that Jesus gave his life no

- He wants Faith
- (John 824) I said therefore unto you, that ye
shall die in your sins for if ye believe not
that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. - (Mark 1616) He that believeth and is baptized
shall be saved but he that believeth not shall
be damned. - He wants Repentance
- (Luke 133) Except ye repent, ye shall all
likewise perish.
27What Does Jesus Command?
- He wants you to confess him
- (Matt 1032-33) Whosoever therefore shall
confess me before men, him will I confess also
before my Father which is in heaven. But
whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I
also deny before my Father which is in heaven. - He wants you to be buried in baptism
- (Acts 238-39) Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your
children, and to all that are afar off, even as
many as the Lord our God shall call.
28What Does Jesus Command?
- He wants you to live faithful and endure to the
end - (Luke 962) No man, having put his hand to the
plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom
of God. - (Mark 1313) But he that shall endure unto the
end, the same shall be saved.

- Jesus was able to commend his spirit to his
Father and ease into the sweet abode of rest. - A Song says
