The Battle of Shiloh

• The army of the Tennessee joined with the army of
  the Ohio under Maj. Gen. Grant and Maj. Gen.
  Buell, while fighting against the army of the
  Mississippi under Gen. Beauregard and Gen.
  Johnston.

The retreat of the confederate soldiers

• After the confederates fell to Forts Henry and
  Donelson, they retreated back to Corinth,
  Mississippi. Where they were planning a surprise
  attack against Gen. Grants army, while they were
  waiting for Gen. Buells army to join them.

Road to nowhere

• The surprise was successful and the confederates
  drove the young union army back to the sunken
  road. There they held the confederates soldiers
  for six hours. The confederates lined up sixty
  two cannons at point blank range and fired upon
  the union army, till finally they surrendered.

The reinforcements

• Gen. Buells army finally showed up and attacked
  the confederates. After joining, the union
  armies made forty thousand soldiers, outnumbering
  the confederates who only had thirty thousand.

A fresh start

• The new battle with the fresh recruits, backed up
  the confederate army to the battle ground they
  fought so hard for. The new dead fell where the
  soldiers died the day before.

The Victory

• The tired wounded confederates were no match for
  the fresh recruits. The confederates retreated
  back to Corinth, Mississippi.
