Early Life

• Birth May 29, 1917
• Place of Birth Brookline, Massachusetts
• Parents Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. and Rose
  Fitzgerald
• He had eight siblings.

Military Service

• He served in the military starting in September
  1941, before Pearl Harbor.
• He earned the rank of Lieutenant.
• He was initially rejected by the Army because of
  his bad back, but he was later accepted by the
  Navy.
• His PT boat was sunk by the Japanese, and he
  helped to save the men on board.

Family

• He married Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy.
• They had two children, Caroline and John Jr.
• After he died, Jackie remarried. She has since
  passed away.
• John Jr. died in a plane crash a few years ago.

• He was involved in politics his whole life. It
  was his fathers big goal in life to have one of
  his sons become president.
• He served in the Senate.
• He ran as a democrat.
• His vice president was Lyndon B. Johnson.
