DRUIDS
  • In the Celtic religion the word Druidry
  • means the practices of the ancient
  • druids, the priestly class in ancient
  • Celtic societies. Their influence was as
  • much social as religious infact they
  • could be philosophers, scientists,
  • teachers, judges and councillors to the
  • King. The Druids linked the Celtic people
  • with their numerous gods, the lunar
  • calendar and the sacred natural order.
  • The Ancient Order of Druids was
  • founded in 1781 by Henry Hurle.

STONEHENGE
  • Stonehenge is a Neolithic and Bronze Age monument
    located near
  • Amesbury in the English county of Wiltshire,
    about 8 miles (13 km)
  • northwest of Salisbury. It is composed of
    earthworks surrounding a
  • circular setting of large standing stones, known
    as megaliths. There
  • is some debate about the age of the stone circle,
    but most
  • Archaeologists think that it was mainly
    constructed between 2500
  • BC and 2000 BC.
  • Stonehenge is surely Britains greatest national
    icon, symbolizing
  • mystery, power and endurance it was a temple
    made for workship
  • of ancient earth deities.
  • Many of the original stones have fallen or been
    removed by
  • Previous generations for home construction or
    road repair.

5
THE BLUESTONES
  • The Bluestones are the stones used in the first
  • stone circle and they come from the Prescelly
  • Mountains of Wales.
  • They weigh up to 4 tons each and about 80
  • stones were used, in all. But the question is
  • how could men manage to move them?
  • Is thought that theyre brought for kilometros
  • only with the mans power!
  • During the ages many of them were moved
  • away and the mythology attached to the
  • moving has been attribuited to the magic of
  • Merlin.
