Handwriting
  • Research has shown that handwriting is best
    taught on a one-to-one basis. Please watch your
    child at home, instruct them and correct them
    when necessary. Emphasize pencil grip! We have
    been reviewing the alphabet in class, and will
    continue to monitor it throughout the year.

    reading. We learn more words, thus expanding our
    vocabulary and becoming better readers.

    mealworms in a vial to care for and observe.
    Over 10 weeks students will observe the larvae
    grow, molt, pupate, and turn into beetles. We
    will also raise butterflies.

  • Nightly Homework
  • Read 10 to 20 minutes each night- Cuddle up and
    read to your child. This will broaden their
    vocabulary, model fluency, and instill a love of
    reading.
  • Utilize the public library!
  • Your child should spend 10-20 minutes reading
    good fit books!

How to Help at Home
  • It would be a BIG help if you would remind your
    son or daughter to use the restroom before
    school, and if you would teach them to tie their
    shoes. ?

for your child.
  • Use math and counting in everyday situations.
  • Ask questions and encourage problem solving
    skills and thinking at home.
  • Have your child read good fit books, 10-20
    minutes a night.

    prior to your childs week.
  • The poster will be shared Thursday afternoon.

    office before serving.

    parents. Please review contents, sign, and have
    your child return on Friday.

  • Book Orders inexpensive way to add just right
    books to your childs collection. Make checks
    out to the book company. These come home about
    once a month.
  • Sleep Experts say that 6 year olds need 11 hours
    of sleep a night, and 7 year olds need 10 ¾
    hours. That, and a good breakfast, will help
    them come ready to learn.

  • Homework Folders
  • Please check the contents every evening.
  • Record reading minutes on the calendar and
    initial. Leave the calendar in the folder.
  • The homework folder is checked every morning and
    is part of your childs report card.
