    their life skills.

working together to tackle their problems.
  • Improved rural and urban environments which
communities are better able to access and enjoy.
  • Healthier and more active people and communities.

3
Project Applied for
  • Run two conferences addressing the issues of
violence in our community and the environment.
  • Run two interfaith youth events under the banner
'Co-exist' for teenagers to come together, share
    experiences and build mutual respect.
  • Undertake representation work on behalf of faith
and interfaith groups to local authorities,
    regional government and other agencies.
  • Undertake Education Outreach work in schools,
youth and community groups to increase awareness
of different faiths, their cultures and the
similar themes that run through them.
  • Run a series of four training sessions for those
running faith, and interfaith groups, to increase
their capacity to deliver effective programmes
    for their members and users.
  • Produce two newsletters, publicity material and
develop our website to promote our activities.

Evidence of Need
  • At our 'Are they Gambling with our Future'
conference in 2007, participants expressed a
strong desire for more such discussions
  • At our "My GangMy Family" conference in
November, over 160 people came together to ease
the worries of many about the prevalence of
violent crime. This work has continued
  • Faith Youth Manchester event evaluations showed
that over 90 wanted more similar events
  • Many faith groups are asked to go into schools
and community groups to tell people about their
faiths. Our members have gone into over a dozen
such groups over the past year and continue to
    get requests to do more
  • We know from our members that much mainstream
training put on often fails to address their
communities needs. Particular areas of training
need expressed by our members at our open
    meetings have included fundraising, marketing,
effective planning and getting their voice heard
by decision-makers. These are the areas we will
    look to address.

Matching to A4A Outcomes
  • Only looked to meet 2.
  • Went through project and ensured all parts linked
    to one of the outcomes.
  • Extend access and participation
  • People actively involved in addressing issues
    that affect them.
  • conferences give opportunities to plan clear
    actions.
  • Youth events planned by young people themselves
leading to further activity from those involved.
  • All events open to anyone to participate and
advertised for those of any faith and none.
  • Training sessions encourage those unsure of their
skills to get more involved in running local
    faith, and interfaith groups.

Matching to A4A Outcomes
  • Increase skill and creativity
  • Conferences and interfaith events will develop
the awareness of people on issues that affect
them encourage them to get more actively
involved in future activity identify those with
talent and look to involve them both in the
running of FN4M and other local faith and
    interfaith groups.
  • The training sessions will both develop
participants and give them skills to help develop
their organisations. Again, we will look to
identify those with talent and involve them both
in the FN4M and other local groups.
  • Training will help raise standards of activities
    put on by groups.

7
Consultation
  • Initial draft was based on previous discussions
and intentions of FN4M as well as previous
    planning work.
  • Draft application was sent to all FN4M Steering
Group for their feedback and approval.
  • Final amendments were made following this.

Feedback
  • A4A were not happy with the newsletter or website
as these were not new work.
  • They allowed us to remove these and re-allocate
costs to increased staffing for sessions in
    schools and youth groups.
  • We also were asked for, and provided, additional
information on the proposed project activities
    including specifics of training programme.
  • We finally gave a more detailed budget breakdown.
