Title: A cell is like a town
1A cell is like a town
Compares to an animal cell.

2Parts of A Cell
Mitochondria
Endoplasmic Reticulum
Cytoplasm
Golgi Body
Nucleus
Cell Membrane
Vacuole
3Cytoplasm
- Air is the cytoplasm keeping everything
orderly. Cytoplasm keeps everything in place and
correctly shaped. Cytoplasm is a Outer
Substance for the organelles (people/places).
4Nucleus
- The nucleus is like the mayor. The mayor orders
duties to the people, just like the nucleus tells
the organelles what to do. The mayor does the
work of commanding, just like the nucleus. The
mayor is the Brain of the city, like the
nucleus is the brain of a cell.
5Cell Membrane
- The cell membrane is like roads and high ways.
The roads highways prevent travels in some
areas. The cell membrane (roads highways)
controls movement in and out the cell (city).
6Mitochondria
- The mitochondria is like a power plant because
the mitochondria produces energy for the animal
using protein and other nutrients. The power
plant uses chemicals, like solar energy. The
mitochondria produces energy using proteins and
other nutrients.
7Endoplasmic Reticulum
- The ER (Endoplasmic reticulum) is like a farm
because it produces proteins (food) for the
animal using the food it eats. The packs of
protein are called ribosome. Ribosome are held in
the ER. The farm holds crops (protein) for
feeding the whole town. The farm and the ER are
the same (basically).
8Golgi Body
The Golgi body is like a granary. A granary is
where you store food. The Golgi body stores the
ribosome that the Endoplasmic Reticulum stores.
The granary (Golgi body) stores the food
(ribosome) produced by the farm (Endoplasmic
Reticulum). Fact The Golgi body is shaped kind
of like the Endoplasmic Reticulum.
9Vacuole
- The vacuole is like a landfill. The vacuole
holds waste that the cell has used up. The
vacuole is a big blob in the cell. The landfill
holds waste (trash) just like the vacuole. The
landfill is really big and it has lots and lots
of waste, just like the vacuole.
