Title: What Is Cancer?

1
What Is Cancer?
2
Cell cycle Regulation
  • Cell Division is regulated by protiens in the
cell called Cyclin. Cylcin tells the cell when
    to divide.
  • Cells will stop growing and dividing when they
come in contact with other cells. This helps
stimulate healing when there is a wound.
  • Other proteins help regulate cell division and
make sure everything happens in the correct order
  • External regulators such as hormones can tell a
cell when it is time to divide

3
Cancer
  • When cells divide uncontrollably
  • Cancer cells do not respond to signals that
    control cell growth and division
  • Caner is often linked to a damaged gene p53
which detects the signals that control growth and
    division
