• 304 surveys were completed by SJU students in
  March 2003
• 50 Freshmen
• 90 Sophomores
• 81 Juniors
• 83 Seniors

Alcohol consumption by SJU students

• 93 consumed alcohol in the past year
• 88 consumed alcohol in the past 30 days
• 83 of underage students consumed alcohol in the
  past 30 days
• 65 of students reported binge drinking in the
  previous two weeks

Marijuana usage by SJU students

• 41 have used marijuana in the past year
• 20 have used marijuana in the past 30 days

Other illegal drug use by SJU students

• 17 have used illegal drugs other than marijuana
  in the past year
• 10 of students reported using illegal drugs
  other than marijuana in the previous 30 days

Perception vs. Reality

• Perception - 99 of SJU students believe that the
  average student on campus uses alcohol once a
  week
• Reality 33 of SJU students use alcohol less
  than once a week

• Perception 61 of SJU students believe that the
  average student uses an illegal drug at least
  once a week
• Reality 43 of SJU students have never used
  illegal drugs, 13 of SJU students reported using
  marijuana at least once a week.
