    the peoples needs
  • -Theodore Roosevelt

3
The Problem The Threat of Industry
  • The environment and natural resources are being
    severely threatened mainly by railroads,
factories, the timber industry, and big business.

4
Our Proposal
  • Make more National Parks
  • Create an influential organization to regulate
the well being of the environment

5
National Parks
  • National Parks are needed because cities are
    causing pollution by having railways.
  • Big business and industry is the main cause.
  • Wildlife and ecosystems need to be protected, and
the most beneficial solution is National Parks.

6
A great example of the success of National Parks
is
7
Actions taken for Yosemite
  • There was a petition filed to the government by
    Robert Johnson and John Muir.
  • The grazing and timber industries were destroying
all the natural resources of the lands.
  • Devastation of the meadows being destroyed by
wild fires and set fires by companies.
  • 1906 - Yosemite was turned into a National Park.

8
The next step that needs to be taken after
National Parks is creating an organization that
protects a regulates the well being of preserving
National Parks.
9
Actions taken for the U.S. Forest Service
  • Established by Congress in 1905 the U.S. Forest
Service to provide quality water and regulated
    timber for the Nations benefit.
  • Additional uses and benefits included sustained
yield of renewable resources such as water,
    forage, wildlife, wood, and recreation.
  • Congress were there biggest supporters, among
Gifford Pinchot, who was the first chief of the
    forest service.

10
The Goal of Our Reforms
  • A lot of National parks protected by
    organizations like the U.S. Forrest.
  • Conservation of natural resources is impertinent
to the success of the country, and these reforms
    would help solidify that.
