• The Serengeti Plain stretches across Africa south
  of the Sahara Desert.

• Cheetahs live in a place called a savanna.
• It is a grassy plain with a hot dry climate.
• But slowly it is being destroyed by humans.

• Cheetahs are a yellowish gold.
• They have black spots.
• They also have something that tells them apart
  from any other spotted cats - tearlines

Carnivores

• Cheetahs like all other big cats are carnivores
  or meat eaters.
• Their favorite foods are the smaller kinds of
  Thompsons gazelle.

Cubs

• Cheetahs babies are called cubs.
• Since cheetahs are mammals they nurse their cubs.
• Cheetahs protect their cubs just like humans
  protect their babies.

Predators

• Even though cheetahs are very ferocious they have
  predators.Such as
• Lions,
• Hyenas,
• And other bigger animals.

Hiding Places

• Mother cheetahs hide their cubs from predators in
  a few places
• In a den,
• Behind a kopje (a rock formation),
• Or behind a tree or bush.

Families

• Cheetahs live alone until they have cubs.
• After the cubs are old enough to leave their
  mothers they split up and the mother lives alone
  again.
• But if there are two or more brothers they will
  stay and live together.

Endangered?

• Cheetahs are an endangered species.
• They are highly outnumbered by their predators.
