  (2007-08 Grant)
• 23,041 grant to digitize the Muncie
  Post-Democrat, an historic newspaper that was an
  anti-Ku Klux Klan paper in the 1920s and 1930s
• 1,198 issues with a total of 4,924 pages
• Optical Character Recognition used so that each
  issue is fully searchable

• Muncie Post-Democrat Newspaper
• Newspaper published by George Dale from 1921
  through 1936, and continued after his death until
  the 1950s
• Dale was nationally prominent for his battle
  against the Klan and used the paper as a weapon
  against it and its local members he was
  threatened, beaten, and even shot at
• Dale was later elected mayor of Muncie,
  convicted of bringing booze to a Democratic party
  fundraiser, and pardoned by President Roosevelt

• 21,194 grant to digitize archival materials
  documenting the experiences of women in Muncie,
  Indiana, from the 1880s through the 1930s
• Items to be digitized include minutes and other

  photographs from 15 archival collections
