The pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on
earth . . .the head of the entire church, the
father and teacher of all Christians. He is the

judged by no one, God himself on earth. (The New

Roman Catholic Authority
Those therefore who after the manner of wicked
heretics dare to set aside Ecclesiastical
Traditions, and to invent any kind of novelty, or
to reject any of those things entrusted to the
Church, or who wrongfully and outrageously devise
the destruction of any of those Traditions
enshrined in the Catholic Church, are to be
punished thusIF THEY ARE BISHOPS, WE ORDER THEM
TO BE DEPOSED BUT IF THEY ARE MONKS OR LAY
PERSONS, WE COMMAND THEM TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE
COMMUNITY.-----------Second Council of Nicaea

Roman Catholic Authority
Private reading of the scriptures has led
millions to the utter denial of Christ.
(Question Box, pg 131). The scripture indeed is
a divine book but it is a dead letter, which has
to be explained. (Our Priesthood, pg 155). The
Bible was placed on the Index of Forbidden
Books by the Council of Valencia (1229). This
was upheld by four popes during the 18th century.

Roman Catholic Authority
Judith identifies Nebuchadnezzar as king of the
Assyrians (11, 7). Tobit endorses the
superstitious use of fish liver to ward off
demons (66-7). Wisdom of Solomon teaches the
creation of the world from pre-existent matter
(717). 2 Maccabees teaches prayers for the
dead (1245-46).
Roman Catholic Bibles have several more books in
the Old Testament than other Bibles. These books
are referred to as the Apocrypha books. The word
apocrypha means hidden. The Apocrypha were
written primarily in the time between the Old and
New Testaments, as well as additions to the books
of Esther and Daniel. The books are named 1
Esdras, 2 Esdras, Tobit, Judith, Wisdom of
Solomon, Ecclesiasticus, Baruch, the Letter of
Jeremiah, Prayer of Manasseh, 1 Maccabees, 2
Maccabees.Israel never accepted the Apocrypha
books as true books of the Hebrew Bible. The
early church debated the status of the Apocrypha,
but few early Christians believed they belonged
in the canon of Scripture. The New Testament
quotes from the Old Testament hundreds of times,
but nowhere quotes or alludes to any of the
Apocryphal books. Further, there are many proven
errors and contradictions in the Apocrypha.

Answering Catholicism's Claims
The Church (hierarchy) has authority (Jn 1613
Jn 1720 Acts 242 Acts 2032). Using these
verses show that neither the church nor elders
have any inherent authority?
Apostles were guided into all truth thru their
words men women are converted. It is thru the
apostles teaching men are saved, stay saved and
have any hope. No where is this authority
conferred upon any man or group of men!
7
Answering Catholicism's Claims
Traditions have equal authority (Matt 151-6
Col 28 2 Thess 215 Col 317 Matt 2818-20).
Using these verses show that oral traditions
originating with men cannot be equal in authority
with the Bible?
Traditions nullify the word of God they deceive
and are empty. We are to adhere to Biblical
Traditions (i.e., follow only the teaching handed
down by the apostles).
8
Answering Catholicism's Claims
The Bible is not to be read nor can it be
understood without help from clergy. (Jn
2030-31 2 Tim 316-17 2 Tim 215 Rom 116 2
Pet 13 Acts 1711 Eph 33-4). Using these
verses show that the Bible is written to produce
faith is to be read and that it can be clearly
understood by those who read it.
Written to produce faith/belief it is inspired
to give all one needs and is to be studied. And
when studied it can be understood so says the
Bible!

Veneration of Mary
Catholicism technically divides worship into
three kinds. 1. Latria (Supreme worship given to
God alone). 2. Dulia (A secondary kind of worship
given to saints and angels). 3. Hyperdulia (A
higher kind of veneration given to the virgin
Mary.
Hyperdulia, or special veneration of Mary,
remains completely different and inferior to
adoration that is due to God alone. Devotion to
Mary is never to rival in nature or in degree the
adoration proper only to God. While veneration of
the Blessed Virgin will always be inferior to the
adoration given uniquely to God, it will always
be superior and higher than devotion given to all
other saints and angels.

Veneration of Mary
Whether acknowledged or not Mary is Deity in
Catholic theology Mariolatry
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with
thee.Blessed art thou among women, and blessed
is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.Holy Mary,
Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at
the hour of death. Amen.

Veneration of Mary
O Virgin Immaculate, Mother of God and My
Mother O Virgin Immaculate, Mother of God and my
Mother, from your sublime heights turn your eyes
of pity on my. Filled with confidence in your
goodness and knowing full well your power, I beg
you to extend to me your assistance in the
journey of life, which is so full of dangers for
my soul. In order that I may never be a slave of
the devil through sin, but may ever live with my
heart humble and pure, I entrust myself wholly to
you. I consecrate my heart to you forever, my
only desire being to love your divine Son, Jesus.
Mary, none of your devout servants has ever
perished may I, too, be saved. Amen.
Prayer to Immaculate Mary Immaculate Mary, your
praises we singWho reigns now with Christ, our
Redeemer and King.Ave, Ave, Ave, Maria!Ave,
Ave, Ave, Maria! In heaven the blessed your
glory proclaimOn earth we, your children, invoke
your fair name.Ave, Ave, Ave, Maria!Ave, Ave,
Ave, Maria!

Veneration of Mary
THINK If Mary is the Mother of God, then what
does this make Mary? (See John 1031-33)
It Makes Her God
She answers prayers, she appears to people, she
redeems, she pardons!
13
Veneration of Mary
RESEARCH Roman Catholicism teaches these three
doctrines about Mary. Find out what these
doctrine are 1. Immaculate Conception? 2.
Perpetual Virginity? 3. The Assumption of
Mary?
Conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of her
mother Ann.
Remained a virgin all her life. Never had
additional children.
She ascended into heaven as did Jesus.
14
Veneration of Mary
Bishop Alphonse de Liguori said And she is
truly a mediatress of peace between sinners and
God. Sinners receive pardon by . . . Mary alone,
(The Glories of Mary, p 82-83). This book also
claims that Mary is the gate of heaven (p 160),
has all power in heaven and on earth (p 180-181),
has a name above every other name and at her name
every knee should bow (p 260).
Using the following Scriptures, disprove
the claims made by de Liguori? 1 Tim

The Catholic Mass
Jesus must literally appear. Catholicism teaches
that the priest has the power to change the bread
and the wine into the actual blood and body of
Jesus Christ. This is their doctrine known as
Transubstantiation. This change is said to take
place when the priest brings Christ down from
heaven to the altar. The bread has been changed
into the body of Jesus in every detail, including
the eyelashes and toenails. So, when a catholic
participates in the Holy Communion, he is eating
the actual body and drinking the actual blood of
Jesus.
How is this Sacrifice Possible?
Catholicism makes a distinction between The
Mass and Holy Communion. Jesus Christ gave us
the sacrifice of the Mass to leave His Church a
visible sacrifice which continues His sacrifice
on the cross until the end of time. The Mass is
the same sacrifice as the sacrifice of the cross.
Holy Communion is the receiving of the body and
blood of Jesus Christ under the appearance of
bread and wine. (New York Catechism).
16
The Catholic Mass
Matt 2626-28 1 Cor 1123-26 Disprove that
during the Lords Supper the actual body
and blood of Jesus are present?
Jesus used a metaphor (as or like). Jesus
identified the contents of the cup as the fruit
of the vine after He blessed it (Matt 2629).
17
The Catholic Mass
How do the following verses show that the
Catholic doctrine of the Mass (a sacrifice of
Jesus again) is unscriptural (Heb 727 Heb 912
Heb 922-29 Heb 10 10-14 Rom
69)?
The sacrifice of Christ was a ONE time event. It
is not repeated, ever! A once for all sacrifice.
