Saturday
  • John 12.1-7
  • Jesus Anointed at Bethany
  • Six days before the Passover, Jesus arrived at
Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had
raised from the dead. Here a dinner was given in
Jesus' honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was
among those reclining at the table with him. Then
Mary took about a pinta of pure nard, an
expensive perfume she poured it on Jesus' feet
and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house
was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who
was later to betray him, objected, "Why wasn't
this perfume sold and the money given to the
poor? It was worth a year's wages. He did not
say this because he cared about the poor but
because he was a thief as keeper of the money
bag, he used to help himself to what was put into
it.  "Leave her alone," Jesus replied. " It was
intended that she should save this perfume for
    the day of my burial.

Sunday
  • John 12.12-18
  • The next day the great crowd that had come for
the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to
Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out
to meet him, shouting,    "Hosanna!" "Blessed
is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
"Blessed is the King of Israel!"
  • Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it
is written, "Do not be afraid, O Daughter of
Zion     see, your king is coming, seated on a
    donkey's colt.
  • At first his disciples did not understand all
this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they
realize that these things had been written about
him and that they had done these things to him.
Now the crowd that was with him when he called
Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the
dead continued to spread the word. Many people,
because they had heard that he had given this
miraculous sign, went out to meet him.
  • Mark 11.11
  • Jesus entered Jerusalem and went to the
temple. He looked around at everything, but since
it was already late, he went out to Bethany with
    the Twelve.

Monday
  • Matthew 21.12-17
  • Jesus entered the temple area and drove out
all who were buying and selling there. He
overturned the tables of the money changers and
the benches of those selling doves. "It is
written," he said to them, " 'My house will be
called a house of prayer, but you are making it
a 'den of robbers."  The blind and the lame came
to him at the temple, and he healed them. But
when the chief priests and the teachers of the
law saw the wonderful things he did and the
children shouting in the temple area, "Hosanna to
the Son of David," they were indignant. "Do you
hear what these children are saying?" they asked
him. "Yes," replied Jesus, "have you never read,
" 'From the lips of children and infants
          you have ordained praise?"
  • And he left them and went out of the city to
Bethany, where he spent the night.

Tuesday
  • Mark 11. 27-33
  • They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while
Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief
priests, the teachers of the law and the elders
came to him. "By what authority are you doing
these things?" they asked. "And who gave you
authority to do this?"  Jesus replied, "I will
ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell
you by what authority I am doing these things.
John's baptismwas it from heaven, or from men?
Tell me!  They discussed it among themselves and
said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask,
'Then why didn't you believe him? But if we say,
'From men'...." (They feared the people, for
everyone held that John really was a prophet.) So
they answered Jesus, "We don't know. Jesus said,
"Neither will I tell you by what authority I am
    doing these things."
  • Matthew 26.14-15
  • Then one of the Twelvethe one called Judas
Iscariotwent to the chief priests 15and asked,
"What are you willing to give me if I hand him
over to you?" So they counted out for him thirty
    silver coins.
