45Enhancement of VISN 7 Consult TemplatesPresented
byBirmingham Prosthetics
46Objectives
- Decrease number of incorrect prosthetic consults.
- Improve Patient Care
- Expedite Timeliness of Processing Orders
- Streamline Accountability of Purchasing Agents
47Physicians complained that CPRS Prosthetic Menu
was not user friendly which resulted in incorrect
consult selection.
48With Physician and CPRS support Consults have
been categorized.
49Current Guidelines require that all Prosthetic
Consults receive action within five (5) workdays.
50Before the enhancement, we were only able to sort
in the Type column by eyeglasses, manual,
oxygen,
51Auto adaptive, clone, clothing allowance or
routine.
52- Although you could sort on the description field
prior to the enhancement, it would pull over free
text data that was not standardized.
53With enhancement of the VISN 7 Consult Template,
you can now sort on the description field. This
enables us to sort by category of consults based
on our current consult setup, i.e. surgical
implant, low vision, speech, audiology, ect.
54The purchasing agents can quickly scan for high
priority consults such as surgical implants,
55and hospital beds.
56PAs assigned to specific areas that include a
variation of SSs do not have to individually
review all consults to find their specialty
consults. For ex consults generated by BRC.
57Low Vision CCTV, and Low Vision (living/mobility
devices).
58Another added benefit for Prosthetics. When
cloning a consult, it contains a brief
description of the consult in Vista.
59Additional Sort Benefits
- Utilize Vista Suite sort option to monitor
mandatory contract compliance. - Create management monitoring tool by using excel
function of Vista Suite.
60Prosthetic Contract Compliance
- Currently Prosthetics has mandatory contract
compliance guidelines in place for over sixty
(60) prosthetic items. - Compliance for these items is monitored quarterly
and the results are sent out via scorecard. - For exampleBlood Pressure Monitors
61Bp Monitor Spreadsheet
This is our Current Bp Monitor Guideline.
62Contract Compliance is Monitored on the following
- Item Description
- Vendor
- HCPCS code (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding
System) - Compliant Contract Cost
63Vista Suite can be utilized to monitor contract
compliance for any errors made by the purchasing
agent by using excel function.
