TAPEWORM MIGRATORY HABITS

• Oribatid mite
• Free living intermediate hosts found in all
  pastures
• These mites swallow tapeworm eggs when feeding on
  horse manure
• Eggs hatch and develop to an infective stage
  within the orbatid mite in 2-4 months
• Horse swallows infected mites while grazing
• Worms mature in 6-10 weeks
