Educational Outreach

• Innovations to assist teaching, conduct research
  and serve the community are on the horizon with
  new information technologies
• The convergence of Internet and television, on
  demand media such as TiVo, digital cable and
  pervasive access to broadband will alter the
  meaning of classroom, lab and distance
  learning student.
• Anywhere, any time, network-based, transparent
  computing that can be accessed and shared between
  a variety of devices will foster real-time
  collaboration, communication and coordination
  between faculty, students and staff in the
  classroom environment or beyond.

Educational Outreach

• Continued growth of interconnected data systems
  will tie together our Academic Services systems,
  eLearning tools and Upper Campus data marts into
  an integrated and seamless learning environment.
• Simulation, animation, Web and database
  technologies will allow us to create a Virtual
  Clinical Skills Lab that consists of a library of
  independent, self-paced activities and a skill
  check off system. These resources will be
  accessible 24/7, reusable throughout the
  curriculum and to available to outside
  consumers.
• There will be increased opportunities to sell the
  School's digital intellectual assets to an
  increasingly diverse and dispersed audience.

• The implementation of Web-base EMR Training
  Systems such as ORCA will lead to the development
  of a library of Problem Based Learning case
  studies that will provide our students with
  collaborative, interprofessional, real-world
  experiences.
• The ability to translate languages in real-time
  will allow for the delivery of our educational
  materials, expand our study participant base and
  allow us to disseminate our findings to all
  corners of the planet.
• Advanced broadcast systems will allow us to hold
  virtual conferences and events that can reach out
  to the global community.

• XML and RSS (Rich Site Summary) technologies will
  allow students and community members to subscribe
  to Nursing content channels, courses, content or
  assets.
• HDTV, broadband Internet connections, the remote
  controlling of cameras and inexpensive storage
  will allow a faculty member or preceptor to view
  student clinical interactions and hands-on
  evaluations from any location in real time .
  These interactions can be saved, catalogued and
  reviewed at a later date by faculty, student
  and/or preceptors.
