5Contradictions Between
Evolution
Genesis
- The universe, earth, and life were produced by
purely natural processes. - Space, time, and matter are eternal.
- Evolution is an ongoing process.
- Everything has evolved by continuous processes.
- The universe began in a flash of light (the Big
Bang). The earth appeared billions of years
later. Light came first, then earth.
- The universe, earth, and life were produced by
the direct action of a supernatural being (God). - God, who is eternal, created time. He created
matter and energy from nothing. - Creation is a completed event.
- Everything was created in distinct, clearly
defined steps. (Gen. 1) - The earth was formed in darkness first, THEN God
said "Let there be light." (Gen.
11-3) Earth came first, then light.
6Contradictions Between
Evolution
Genesis
- The sun and stars appeared billions of years
before the earth. Sun and stars came first, then
earth. - The earth began as molten rock. For billions of
years it was too hot for water to exist as a
liquid. Land first, then liquid water. - It has always rained on the earth.
- Evolution occurred over four eras ranging from
hundreds of millions to billions of years. The
"evenings and mornings" of Genesis are
meaningless.
- The sun and stars were created on the fourth day,
AFTER the earth. (Gen. 114-17) Earth came first,
then sun and stars. - From the very beginning the earth had a liquid
water surface. (Gen. 12, 9-10) Water first, then
dry land. - At least until after Adam sinned, it had never
rained on the earth. (Gen. 25-6) - Creation was completed in six days, each
consisting of an evening and a morning. (Gen. 1)
7Contradictions Between
Evolution
Genesis
- In order for evolution to fit into Genesis, each
"day" would have had to last for millions or
billions of years. - The early earth's atmosphere was poisonous,
consisting largely of hydrogen, methane, ammonia,
and water vapor. It could not support modern-type
plants and animals for billions of years.
- The sun was created a day after plants, insects a
day later. Plants can only survive a few 24-hour
days without direct sunlight. Most cannot
reproduce without insects. They would have become
extinct in a very short time. The "days" could
not have been millions of years long. - By the third day, the earth's atmosphere was
capable of sustaining plants. By the fourth day,
it was suitable for air-breathing animals.
8Contradictions Between
Evolution
Genesis
- All living things evolved from one common
single-celled ancestor. Variation is unlimited. - There is a basic continuity between all forms of
life. - The first plant life evolved in the ocean.
Seed-bearing land plants evolved billions of
years later. - The first members of the animal kingdom were
microscopic, single-celled organisms.
- God created distinct "kinds" of creatures. Each
reproduces only "after its kind." (Gen. 124-25,
I Cor. 1539) Variation is limited. - There is a basic discontinuity between all forms
of life. Each reproduces only "after its kind." - Seed-bearing land plants were among the first
living things. (Gen. 111-12) - The first animals included fish, birds, and
"great whales." (Gen. 120-22) Whatever these
were, they were not microscopic.
9Contradictions Between
Evolution
Genesis
- Birds evolved from reptiles after millions of
years. - Animals had been eating each other for hundreds
of millions of years before man appeared. - Man has been in existence for only the last
1/1000th of earth's history. - The first man was an already living, highly
evolved ape-like creature into whom God infused a
soul. - Human females evolved at the same time as males.
The first human male was born of a female.
- Birds were created the day before "creeping
things." (Gen. 120-25) - At least until after man sinned, animals ate only
plants. (Gen. 129-30) - Man has been here almost since the beginning of
the earth. - The first man's body was miraculously formed from
the dust of the earth. (Gen. 27) His body did
not exist before this. - Woman was formed from man in a miraculous
operation. (Gen. 221-22)
10Contradictions Between
Evolution
Genesis
- The earliest humans were meat-eaters.
- The first humans gathered food. Thousands of
years later, they began to hunt. Many thousands
of years afterward, they developed agriculture. - The first humans were primitive and brutish. They
had no true culture for tens of thousands of
years.
- The earliest humans were vegetarians. (Gen. 129)
- The first man, Adam, was a farmer. So was his son
Cain. - By the second generation, people were building
cities. (Gen. 417) Abel, in the second
generation, raised sheep. By the eighth
generation, men were using musical instruments,
raising cattle, and working with bronze and iron.
(Gen. 420-22)
11Contradictions Between
Evolution
Genesis
- Language developed slowly.
- Marriage is a cultural development.
- Clothing is a cultural development.
- Animals had been competing and dying for billions
of years before the first humans evolved. From
birth, they too were destined to die.
- Adam had a large vocabulary from the day he was
created. Languages multiplied suddenly at Babel. - Marriage was directly established by God.
- Clothing was directly furnished by God after the
Fall, because of man's inability to deal with
nakedness in his fallen condition. - If Adam had never sinned, he and Eve would have
lived forever. (Gen. 219, 317-24)
12Contradictions Between
Evolution
Genesis
- Evolution worked by the survival of the fittest
and the death of the less fit over billions of
years. The first humans were merely products of
this process. Thus, MAN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH
DEATH. - There has never been a worldwide flood. The
fossil record is the result of slow, gradual
processes which took place over billions of years.
- Before Adam sinned, there was no death in the
world. (Gen. 317-24, Rom. 512-14) All of
creation suffers because of his sin. (Rom.
819-22) Even the ground was cursed because of
Adam's sin. (Gen. 317) MAN CAUSED DEATH. - The Flood devastated the entire earth, but in the
last days scoffers will deny that it ever took
place. (2 Pet. 33-6)
13Evolution Could be EasilyExpressed in Biblical
Language
When God began to create the heavens and the
earth, darkness was upon the face of the heavens.
And God said "Let there be light" and there was
a great blast. And after many days God made the
stars, the sun, and the earth. And the earth was
without form and void. And God caused the land to
appear, and He fashioned the deep. And God made
the exceeding small creatures and plants that
teem in the sea. And God blessed them, saying "Be
fruitful and multiply, and bring forth the fish
and the great whales and the creeping things, and
the birds of the air and the beasts of the field."
If God used evolution, why didnt He say so?
14Origin Meaning of Life Death According to
Evolution
LIFE began as a chemical accident when an
unknown collection of chemicals in an unknown
location experienced an unknown process powered
by an unknown energy source to become an
unknown type of cell. We dont even know how life
began, much less what it means. DEATH began soon
after when the first cell died. We cant be
sure if it means anything either.
15Evolution
Death and Struggle
led to theexistence of man
Creation
Man was the direct cause of death and struggle.
You cant have it both ways!
16Origin Meaning of Life Death According to
Genesis
LIFE began by the direct creative action of God.
He created it because He wanted someone
enoughlike Him to appreciate Him, whom He could
loveand who would love Him in return. (The
meaning of life!) DEATH is a punishment for sin,
but its also an expressionof Gods mercy.
Rather than leave us eternallyseparated from
Him, He created an escape hatch death - to
release us from our hopeless condition. Then He
sent His beloved Son through that escapehatch to
bring us back to Himself. DEATH MEANS GOD LOVES
YOU!
17Who Makes The Rules?
- EVOLUTION
- Even if there is a God, he is not involved in
your life. You get to make your own rules. You
are not accountable to anybody. - Right is what you get away with wrong is what
you get caught at. - Morality is a matter of opinion. Nobody has the
right to say anybody else(even Osama!) is wrong.
- CREATION
- God made you. He owns you.
- He has the right to make the rules and the power
to enforce them. - You may get away with disobeying for a while, but
someday you will have to give an account to him.
18Abortion
Caused by wrong attitude toward SEX and false
ideas about CHILDREN. The Excuse Embryonic
Recapitulation - a lie, for which
Ernst Haeckel was convicted of fraud!
Drawings purporting to show similarities between
embryos of pigs, bulls, rabbits and humans from
Ernst Haeckels 1874 book Anthropogenie
19Which Foundation Are You Building On?
20Evolution and Drug Abuse
From chemicals you came, unto chemicals you
shall return.
Why not use a few more chemicals to make you feel
better and help you forget how meaningless your
life is?
21Origin of Races
All of us came from Noahs sons and their wives.
Until Babel people were freely interbreeding so
their genes were not sorted out. There would have
been no sharply defined groups. At Babel God
decided which people would speak which languages,
perhaps according to their genes. From then on
they were no longer interbreeding. Clearly
defined groups could develop quickly. Natural
selection reinforced the grouping. The races
are just large extended families within the human
race. They are a visual reminder that God will
not allow mankind to unite in rebellion against
Him.
22The Ethical Dilemma of Evolution
If evolution works by survival of the fittest,
then the less fit must die. If kept alive
contrary to nature, they may contaminate the gene
pool and harm the species. A person who
really believes in evolution has no business
helping the weak and sick survive. By doing so he
is interfering with evolution. If he is
consistent in his beliefs, he should let them die.
23A Beautiful Place To Live
24Until The Tenants Get Hold Of It!
25Pauls Defense of The Gospel
(1 Corinthians 15) Some denied the Future
resurrection (v. 12) - the Promise of the
Gospel. Pauls reply (v. 17-19) this removes
our Present hope - the Power of the Gospel. His
proof (v. 21-22, 45-49) the fall of Adam in the
Past shows thePurpose of the Gospel.
If Adam was a myth, we have no power for the
present or hope for the future!
26An Atheist on The Meaning of Evolution
(1 Corinthians 15) Christianity has fought
evolution because... evolution destroys utterly
and finally the very reason Jesus earthly life
was supposedly made necessary. Destroy Adam and
Eve and the original sin, and in the rubble you
will find the sorry remains of the son of god.
(sic) ...It becomes clear now that the whole
justification of Jesus life and death is
predicated on the existence of Adam and the
forbidden fruit he and Eve ate. Without the
original sin, who needs to be redeemed? Without
Adams fall into a life of constant sin
terminated by death, what purpose is there to
Christianity? None.
G. Richard Bozarth, The Meaning of
Evolution,The American Atheist, Sep. 1978, p.30
27Evangelism the Way Paul Did It
1 Cor. 123 But we preach Christ crucified, to
the Jewsa stumbling block and to the Greeks
foolishness...
Why the difference? Jews already knew of God as
Creator and man as a fallen being. Greeks
believed in evolution! (No fall to be saved
from.) When Paul preached to Greeks he began
with God as Creator and all humans descended from
one man. (Acts 1722 ff)
Does our nation have a Creation foundation?
NO! For effective soulwinning, we need to know
how to pre-evangelize with the message of
Creation.
