- Facilities at over 228 locations in eastern SD
surrounding areas of IA, MN, NE, and ND.
Hospitals, Clinics, Nursing Homes - Comprehensive videoconferencing system- Used for
education, administration, and clinical
telehealth - Avera Telehealth had approximately 2,000 visits
as of April 30, 2007, Specialties psychiatry,
infectious disease, dermatology, pulmonary OB,
internal medicine, endocrinology, wound care,
nephrology, oncology, pediatric pulmonary,
pediatric endocrinology, pediatric echo, and
pediatric gastroenterology. Other applications
include case review, adult echo, behavioral
health assessments, pre-commitment screenings and
court hearings.

Support for up to 85 of costs for Avera and two
partners applied for.

- Recommendation- Work with your State USDA
Representatives. - USDA Programs are tied to the reauthorization of
the Farm Bill. - Grant Program- Up to 500,000 grants. Will pay
for ONLY equipment. Equipment specific to
education and clinical health care services
delivered via distance. Education related
funding must be linked to activities with
specific curriculums.

- Grant/Loan Program- Regular Combination
Loan/Grants Combos will generally consist of 9
of loan for every 1 of grant. Non-competitive,
First-come, first-serve. - Less restrictive in what it will pay for.
- 2007- Special EMR Pilot Program. 1 in grant
for every 4 in loan. Projects capped at 1
million. - Maximum amount of a regular Combo application is
20 million (18 million in loan, 2 million in
grant) and the minimum is 50,000.
