Beach Reporting System

• Beaches Environmental Assessment and Coastal
  Health Act (B.E.A.C.H.), October 2000.
• Beach Reporting System (BRS) prototype project in
  Southern California, January 2001.
• Oceana, an international advocacy organization
  protecting and restoring ocean life, joined the
  effort which was expanded to all coastal and
  Great Lake states during the 2002 beach season
  (Memorial Day).
• The BRS directly meets the public notification
  requirements mandated in the BEACH Act and serves
  as a natural addition and portal through Earth
  911 in providing the public with real-time beach
  water quality information.
