- Money given to assist you in funding your
education beyond high school.

5 Apply Early!
Every year complete the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as it becomes
available which is January 2nd
Why ?
Many funds are limited. Once a school starts to
award aid, funding can quickly become exhausted.
You want to be in line to be considered as soon
as awarding starts.

- Federal Work-Study
- Federal Stafford Loans
- Federal Perkins Loans

- Apply for a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov
- Both parents and student need a pin to sign FAFSA
electronically .

- Use previous years tax information or estimated
tax information if taxes are not already
completed

- School receives ISIR (student receives Student
Aid Report) - Student may be selected for Verification and
additional documents will be required (30) - Check your status at www.finaid.fsu.edu
- Accept or decline award(s) via the Office of
Financial Aid student toolkit.

- Accept awards via office of financial aid student
toolkit - Complete loan entrance counseling at
www.finaid.fsu.edu - Complete Master Promissory Note at
https//dlenote.ed.gov/empn/index.jsp - Parents needing additional funding can apply for
a Federal Parent Plus Loan by completing a FAFSA
(if not all ready of file), a Direct Loan
Federal Plus Loan Application, and a Direct Loan
