How to apply for Financial Aid

• (in 6 easy steps)

Step 1 Create A PIN

• Go to www.pin.ed.gov
• Click on Apply for PIN
• If you need to provide parents information on
  FAFSA, your parents will need a PIN also

Step 2 Complete FAFSA

• When you have received your PIN(s), Go to
  www.fafsa.ed.gov
• FDLTCCs school code 031291
• A Student Aid Report will be sent to you and the
  school

Step 3 Tribal / Indian Applications

• Complete the Minnesota Indian Scholarship
  Programs (MISP) Application the ISAP
  immediately! The priority deadline is July 1st
• You can get the ISAP online at www.fdltcc.edu/fa/
• Make 3 copies of your completed ISAP
• Mail 1 copy to FDLTCCs Financial Aid Office
• Mail 1 copy to your Tribes Education Office
• Keep 1 copy for your records
• Mail original ISAP to MISP at the Roseville
  address listed on ISAP
• As soon as possible, contact your Tribes
  Education office regarding their application
  forms and process

Step 4a Complete School forms

• The FDLTCC Financial Aid Office will either mail
  you a letter requesting more information
  (Tracking Letter) or an Award Letter. The
  Tracking Letter will also be available online for
  you to retrieve. If you want to retrieve your
  Tracking Letter
• Go to http//www.fdltcc.edu/web/stuinf.html
• Click on Access your Student account
  Information
• Click on the Student tab
• Click on the term listed under Selected
  Semester and then click on the term you are
  inquiring about
• Click on My Financial Aid
• Click on Financial Aid Status

Step 4b Complete School forms

• This list will help interpret the statuses
• NO TRACKING LETTER EXISTS - We have not yet
  received your FAFSA
• results. Check FAFSA _at_ www.fafsa.ed.gov
• TRACKING LETTER SENT - A letter was sent to you
  requesting additional
• information. A copy of this letter is
  displayed.
• READY FOR REVIEW - We have received all requested
  information and staff will now review your file.
• EDE CORRECTIONS TRANSMITTED - We found a
  discrepancy and had to send
• a correction to DOE.
• READY FOR PACKAGING EDITS - You are ready for an
  Award Letter and staff
• will now process it.
• READY FOR PAYMENT - Your Award Letter was
  processed. Go to either
• AWARD LETTER - Original Award letter-based on
  estimates
• AWARDS - Current, accurate Award Listing-reflects
  all changes

Step 4c Complete School forms

• If you received a Tracking Letter requesting
  additional information be sent to FDLTCC, you
  need to resolve, complete, sign, and return all
  that is listed before your financial aid
  eligibility can be calculated. The process is
  frozen on this step until you take care of
  everything listed on your Tracking Letter. Once
  you have taken care of everything on your
  Tracking Letter, your information will be
  reviewed and in 2-3 weeks an Award Letter will be
  processed and mailed to you.
• Once you receive an Award Letter, go to
  www.fdltcc.edu/fa/ and print the Award Letter
  Information Sheet. The Award Letter will list
  any Federal or Minnesota State Grants,
  work-study, and/or loans you may be eligible for.
  You can retrieve a copy of your Award Letter
  online by following the directions in Step 4a.

Step 5 Federal Stafford Loans

• Once your Award letter is complete, you can
  apply for
• Federal Stafford Loans.
• _ Go to www.fdltcc.edu/fa/ and click on
• Online Stafford Loan Application

Step 6 Child Care Grant

• Once your Award letter is complete, you can
  apply for the Minnesota Post-Secondary Child Care
  Grant.
• Go to www.fdltcc.edu/fa/ and read the
  instructions. If it
• appears you are eligible, print the application
  and submit it
• to the Financial Aid Office
