Title: Cain and Abel

1
Cain and Abel
  • Biblical lessons from Cain and Abel.

2
Introduction
  • The lives and biblical stories of Cain and Abel
are one of the most popular brothers in the
    Bible.
  • We know the stories associated with them Their
    sacrifices and Cains murder.
  • What we often overlook are the biblical teachings
attached to these two combined stories.

3
Introduction
  • Two main lessons from Cain and Abel as the Bible
    reveals.
  • The offering done by faith.
  • The way of Cain.
  • The blood of Abel.

4
Offerings Before God
  • By faith.
  • Whatever God revealed to Cain and Abel, Abels
obedience was raised up to God as a soothing
(well pleasing) aroma, by faith. Cp. Heb. 114
  • Anytime sacrifices are offered by faith they
are received as a soothing aroma. Cp. Lev. 19,
    13, 17 22, 9, 12 35, 16, etc.)
  • Our lives bought by the sacrificial blood
(offering) of Christ must also be offered unto
God by faith, which is our reasonable service.
    Rom. 121

5
Offerings Before God
  • Giving the very best obedience with a good
    heart. Gen. 44
  • Many believers go through the motions and merely
offer their lives as Cain offered his fruit.
  • Instead, our hearts need a complete desire to be
given to the Lord. Matt. 2237
  • True faith is a manifestation of 1) obedience 2)
from a good heart and its deeds a testimony of
    righteousness. Heb. 114

6
Offerings Before God
  • Blood better than Abel. Heb. 1224
  • Abels offering of blood was based upon his
righteous faith, but was not blood that brought
atonement for the sins of the world.
  • It served as a shadow of the blood shed by our
Savior who gave His life-blood as the atoning
    sacrifice for this world.

7
The Way of Cain
  • God reveals His will and warns us against sin
when we are tempted against Him. Gen. 44-5
  • The result Cain was angry and received
    exhortation/warning from God. Gen. 46
  • Many who are confronted with Gods truths today
typically take out their hatred of truth not
against the God that they cannot see, but against
His faithful whom they can see and destroy.

8
The Way of Cain
  • Cains life (way) set forth a particular way
    that many follow.
  • It was a way of rebellion and rejection. Jude 4,
    8
  • At the least it is one that does not desire to
    serve Gods revealed will.
  • At the core this way of life is full of
    hatred/murder. Matt. 521-22 1 Jn. 315

9
Conclusion
  • Is your life a faithful sacrifice to our God that
would be received by Him as a soothing aroma?
  • Or, do you live in the way of Cain?
