Students had to FOLLOW daily by LISTENING and
OBSERVING modeling of the principles of
Perpsective by Mr. Herger. They also had a
handout and a step by step, point to point guide
(A,B,C,D,Eetc.) to LEARN these important lessons
in both MATHEMATICAL and SPATIAL REASONING.
19Students had only 6 inch oak tag rulers to work
with and a handful of standard wooden twelve inch
rulers to share

Notice how PERPENDICULARS sometimes went awry
20Notice how Jose added a garage, yard and sidewalk
to his dream house.
21Russell worked every day on a new house design in
order to master the principles. A great student!
22Eighth grader Jean Carlos was a leader in 823 for
just about every unit of study all year. Bravo,
Jean!
23Productive students shared their DISCOVERIES of
how to apply the principles with one another and
the class took on the character of a firm at
time. If only we had drawing boards!....

45Notice Kattyes basic ANALAGOUS COLOR HARMONY
here is broken up by the addition of purple throw
pillows a split complementary moment. The
purple is also subtly echoed in the selection of
striped carpet which leads the eye of the
viewer/visitor to the comfotable daybed/sofa
46Though incomplete it is apparent that this
designer is already imagining a joyous jumble of
multiple colors and furniture styles from
diverse periods does it work? A matter of
taste, perhaps, but it is actually very courant
happening right now -with Manhattan designers
for very rich.
47Eighth grader Denzil McFarlane prefers the
non-cluttered, sturdy, traditional look for his
easy chair in a bright windowed room corner.
48Similarly, Ayana likes the furniture spare and
light colored but accented by a brilliant golden
toned carpet.
49Delilah Bowman was inspired by a space divided by
numerous wall, floor and ceiling planes, wherein
the furniture is secondary to enjoying the carved
spaces.
