Time to complete
  • Research Doctoral students
  • Academic Regulations allow up to 3.5 years
    (full-time equivalent) extensions are not
    automatic for scholarship holders or admission
    only students
  • Masters - 2 years full-time equivalent for
    Masters
  • Domestic HDR students (Australian/Permanent
    residents Research Training Scheme) receive a
    tuition fee scholarship for the times outlined
    above. Tuition fees payable after this time
    however fee-relief and completion scholarships
    available
  • International HDR students time allocations the
    same but see your letter of offer. VISA
    restrictions also apply.

Rules in brief
  • SCHOLARSHIPS various conditions (KEEP Letter of
    Offer and documents)
  • EMPLOYMENT restrictions if on a full time
    scholarship UniSA requirements (maximum 8
    hours) and DIAC different. UniSA takes
    precedence
  • LEAVE 6 months maximum at any at time
  • Longer than 12 calendar months approved only in
    exceptional circumstances
  • Leave is not necessarily allowed for
    international candidates (DIAC)
  • CONCURRENT enrolment in another degree is
    restricted
  • STUDYING AWAY FROM UniSA permission required.
    This is important for safety reasons.
  • OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SAFETY depending on the
    project special permission may be required
  • POLICE checks in some instances
