Problem Statement
  • Poverty wages (7.5 hourly) and minimal hours
    available to IHSS workers trap them in cycle of
    poverty with little opportunity for advancement
  • Growing shortage of trained health care providers
    in the C.N.A, LVN, and RN levels (projected job
    openings in 2005 in California 33,100 in C.N.A
    level, 24,330 in LVN level, and 45,930 in RN
    level1)

Project Objectives
  • To educate and case manage 600 IHSS workers in
    C.N.A track over a four year period
  • To educate and case manage 135 C.N.A workers in
    LVN track over a four year period
  • To place 80 of graduates in long term care
    facilities and ensure 90 day job retention
